who we are

Divya Jyoti Mahila Vikash (DJMV) is a non-profit community-based organisation working towards women empowerment, education and livelihood promotion. Promoted in 2000, the organization has worked among backward fishing communities in the interior unreached pockets of Rural Odisha, identified as one of the most under developed states in India. Women self help groups have been taken as the base for all interventions and livelihood activities enabling them to contribute towards mainstream development process.

what we do

Girls Education

The locals giving very low priority to girl child education, female children as four-year-old can be seen engaged in domestic chores and other production activities to earn daily wages.

Adolescent’s Empowerment

Majority of these men and women land up in the cities and join the unorganized sector ending up as construction workers, housemaids etc

Menstrual Hygiene Management

Menstrual blood is considered impure and unclean among the fishing community in Odisha and there is little awareness about this biological process taking place in a women’s body

Women Empowerment

Women Self Help Groups plays vital role in women empowerment process. DJMV also works towards addressing issues of violence against women providing legal support to victims.

Sustainable Livelihoods

Livelihood is one of the key problems in our operational area where majority of the people are engagead in agriculture for their daily livelihood
